Ingredients

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb 450g Wagyu ground beef
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For Assembly:

  • 4 brioche buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato sliced
  • ½ red onion thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Pickles to taste

Optional Toppings:

  • Caramelized onions
  • Truffle aioli
  • Avocado slices
  • Fried egg

Instructions

Prepare the Patties:

  • In a bowl, gently mix the Wagyu beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Avoid overmixing.
  • Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into 1-inch thick patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.

Cook the Patties:

  • Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare or 5-6 minutes per side for medium-well.
  • In the last minute, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty and cover to melt.

Toast the Buns:

  • Lightly toast the brioche buns on the skillet or grill for about 30 seconds.

Assemble the Burgers:

  • Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the bottom bun.
  • Layer with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and the cooked patty.
  • Add optional toppings like caramelized onions or truffle aioli.
  • Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
