For the Sausage Gravy:
- 1 pound ground turkey or chicken sausage
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ cups whole milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
For the Biscuit Layer:
- 1 can 16.3 oz refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Set aside.
Make the gravy by melting butter, whisking in flour, and gradually adding milk. Stir in cooked sausage and seasonings.
Press half the biscuit dough into the pie dish, pour the gravy over it, and top with the remaining biscuit dough.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
