- 1 ½ cups almond flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 3 large eggs room temperature
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- Zest of 1 orange
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup dark chocolate chunks or chips
For Topping (Optional)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar for dusting
- ¼ cup toasted almond slices
- 1 tbsp orange zest curls
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Combine Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Add granulated sugar and mix until fully incorporated.
Stir in melted butter, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Fold in the dark chocolate chunks or chips.
Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (no wet batter).
Cool and Decorate:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
